UFC Noche has come to an end - and Merab Dvalishvili is standing tall as theNEWUFC Bantamweight Champion! Nothing he did was necessarily surprising, either; he followed a wrestling-heavy gameplan and pressured consistently. Sean O’Malley just couldn’t shut it down, and never found the shot he needed to hurt Dvalishvili. He was a bit “off” all night, it seemed, too. Congrats to Merab tho. Great win and underdog story for the Georgian....

Quinn Ewers went down after a handoff and walked off the field into the medical tent. We don’t know the extent of the injury yet, but Ewers looked quite frustrated leaving the field.

Let’s get right to the point here. He came right through his back and was early. The only reason people are losing their minds about it is because it’s the Chiefs. Welcome back to the Stats Lab. Probably doesn’t matter that much. But a coach being really good off a bye week? A team covering a lot as a road dog? Probably means they’re being consistently undervalued. League wide trends that hold steady across hundreds of matchups spanning years and years? So you have to look at every stat individually and decide if it matters. Below is my entire cheat sheet I used for Advisors this week....

If I would’ve blogged this two hours ago, I’d probably have a substantially different tone. But he looks good? But maybe it is at this point? Maybe we want to get out of the Deshaun business and move on. Either way, it’s nice to know we can possibly have an exit plan if needed. Credit to the Browns lawyers. What the fuck were Deshauns thinking?

But how would they do it this time? …..they almost surprised me. How, you may ask? It was a fucking disaster. BUT WE WON!!!!! Dominated the first half and probably should’ve been up way more. Deshaun was substantially better. 22 for 34, 186 yards and most importantly zero turnovers and only 2 sacks. Ran a TD in himself, too. No, not great. But he was good. And obviously the defense was better, too....

It was fairly well deserved. Tampa Bay was beat up. The air started to come out of the team. The lead had evaporated and been lost with the Lions pulling ahead 16-13. The Defense made MULTIPLE stands. The Bucs are now 2-0 and tied atop the NFC South with the upstart Saints. They are for real.

Hilariously bad officiating Saturday night in Pasadena. Coach Cignetti might just be the real deal. At least he’s a step up from having a literal high school coach last season. I’m officially smoking on that Cig pack. Bring on Michigan, feed me Ohio State, fuck Purdue. The Big 10 title is Indiana’s to lose.
