It’s difficult to pick up the pieces after a tragedy like that.

But one incredible story to come out of this catastrophic event comes from one of the victims themselves.

Martin “Tiger” Bech.

A 27-year-old native of Louisiana and a former Princeton Tigers football player.

He and his friends had apparently met up with a few girls before the attack took place.

Meaning that they were essentially strangers to Tiger Bech.

Yet he still made the split-second decision to save her life while sacrificing his own.

That’s a testament to a few things.

For starters, the Bech family clearly raised their son to become an incredible man.

I think playing team sports is such a crucial part of developing strong men with strong morals and values.

The idea of putting the team in front of yourself.

The sense of togetherness you learn from playing team sports your whole life.

The world would be a better place if everybody was like him.

So thank you to Tiger Bech for being a hero.
