We’re a little over 24 hours into the MLB Postseason and we already have a stunner.
The Detroit Tigers have swept the Astros in Houston and are into the ALDS.
In any playoff format you always want to avoid the red hot team.

The Tigers weren’t red hot entering October, they were scorched Earth, Super Saiyan levels of hot.
In August they were given a 0.2% chance to make the postseason.
Hell, they traded the best pitcher available at the deadline in Jack Flaherty to the Dodgers.
They sold and they pretty much didn’t lose from that point on.
Yesterday Houston ran into the buzz saw that is Tarik Skubal and came up with nothing.
Framber Valdez had nothing.
Today, however, was a little less straight forward.
Hunter Brown was good and Bryan Abreu did his job to them to the 8th inning with the lead.
It looked like Houston was gonna pull one out of their ass again and somehow stay alive.
They would combine to give up four runs on five hits while walking three.
So much for their superpen they invested all that money into.
Guenther and Vest finished her off and that was all she wrote.
The Astros insane streak of making the ALCS is over.
The AJ Hinch led Tigers slay the mighty dragon and kick them out of the party.
Tarik Skubal is the best pitcher in baseball.
You really can’t matchup well with them pitching wise because of that.
Tough to carve out any late lefty or righty lanes for your relievers.
I have no idea why people are calling them the Gritty Tigs.
That doesn’t flow at all.
Gritty Kitties works so much better.
That’s what Skubal called them on his IG story when they clinched a playoff spot.
They’re the Gritty Kitties and they’re dangerous.
Their series vs. Cleveland in the ALDS should be a grind it out gutter war.
Can ya feel it?
I’m very excited to see them host postseason games and what that crowd is going to look like.
Bet it looks better than whatever Baltimore has had out there the last few days.
From a Yankees fan: thank you
