Yesterday was an incredible day for the sport of hockey.
For decades, all we’ve ever heard was how Wayne Gretzky essentially locked out the history books.
What if just as one chase ends, another chase begins?

What if…there is another?
I’m sick of it.
Auston Matthews is currently sitting at 398 career goals.

Ovechkin scored his 400th career goal in 634 career games, and Auston Matthews has currently played 623.
Let’s just say he gets to that number by the end of the year.
That’ll be 400 goals in his first 9 seasons for Auston Matthews.

Ovi had 422 goals in his first 9 seasons.
But let’s just say he has another 11-12 years left on his career.
He’s going to need to stay right around that high-40, low-50 number for most of those years.
And maybe there’s a year where he can drop off in the high 30s.
It’s definitely not impossible, and that’s just if he wants to keep pace with Ovi.
Let’s just see where he’s at by game 1487.
