Day 1 is in the books here in Paris. Crammed a lot in at the last minute, and you could watch an entire video recap above. I am the BITO, we already know that. But which country is the BITW (Best In The World)? Well, it’s a small sample size based off what I witnessed, but I say: China. The Chinese fans traveled incredibly well. Felt like a home game for them, and the players certainly leaned into that advantage....
Of course you’re getting the defending champs at home, not all that surprising. Hard to argue this isn’t an awesome slate assuming everyone is healthy. And yet, there are some OBVIOUS snubs that were pretty shocking when I first saw this list. For starters, where’s Giannis? Did Adam Silver forget that guy exists? Or do he and the Bucks simply not move the needle anymore? That seemed a little crazy, but I guess Wemby has more juice?...
Well that was as depressing as I woulda guessed! You gotta sit there in dead silence until McDavid decides to start changing. It could be minutes, it could be hours, it could be days. Not for us, the fans, but for them. Is it more dead silence? Pretty sick they released the video though. They coulda kept that on the shelf forever but pretty cool for us to see.
