Kanye West has reached a level of pure insanity that I aspire to be at someday.
Unfortunately, I’m too much of a coward to ever allow myself to fully get there.
I was also born with a normally functioning brain.
Achieving peak brain is a dangerous game.
I don’t think it can even be done intentionally.
You have to get the measurements of your drugs + mental illness cocktail just right.
One wrong turn and you find yourself holding a gun to your own head.
Your ability to feel shame and humiliation will disappear.
Peak brain manifests itself in different ways.
Most people who’ve achieved it are jacking off on public transit as we speak.
He is in his own world.
He’s having the time of his life.
He’s having more fun than everybody else on that train combined.
They don’t carry the weight of their problems on their shoulders the way you or I do.
They wake up every day and do exactly what they want, when they want, consequences be damned.
And no matter how dire things may look for them from the outside, in their minds they are….
They’re incapable of holding onto them for longer than a few seconds at a time.
Their minds are only capable of experiencing what is directly in front of their face at a given moment.
It’s a beautiful way to live.
For the longest time, Kanye claimed he was bi-polar.
He called it his super power.
A podcast which I suspect Kanye had his friend Justin start purely for the purpose of interviewing Kanye.
I never have the balls to act on that impulse.
But I’m not operating on the level Kanye is.
To quote the great drunk poet Charles Bukowski, “sadness is because of intelligence”.
The more you understand certain things, the more you wish you didn’t understand them.
A man with peak brain understands nothing.
Which allows them to believe they understand everything.
I bet that feels awesome.
Same with Antonio Brown.
Same with Dennis Rodman.
Same with Ben Mintz.
Same with the homeless guy jacking off on the F train.
Kanye is a billionaire now.
Ben Mintz is having a blast a Super Bowl week.
But who knows where their brains will take them in the end.
