What the fuck Nate?
I thought you, of all people, would get what Jets fans are going through.
Having said all of that, Nate’s overall point isn’t entirely wrong.
The major reason I don’t like the hire is because of Woody Johnson.
It’s yet another first time head coach that was a defensive coordinator.
We’ve done this song and dance so many times.
It didn’t work with Al Groh.
It didn’t work with Robert Saleh.
It didn’t work with Todd Bowles.
It didn’t work with Eric Mangini.
No matter what, the success rate is not good.
I wanted Brian Flores to get the job.
He also has a strong enough personality to not take Woody’s shit.
Of course, that’s why he didn’t get hired.
So that’s why I am frustrated.
I am rooting for a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in FOURTEEN years.
That’s hard to do in the NFL.
I’ll also never be able to get away from Woody Johnson.
His teenage sons have taken an interest in the team.
Even when Woody’s gone, those kids should easily outlive me.
This family will be in my life as long as I live.
That’s a depressing realization.
When your team is truly awful, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to be pessimistic.
All that being said, I hope I am dead wrong about Aaron Glenn.
I want nothing more than for him to be the second coming of Vince Lombardi.
I’m also an idiot.
I was devastated when the Mets hired Carlos Mendoza as manager last off-season.
I desperately wanted Craig Counsell.
Ends up Carlos Mendoza is a really good manager.
It wasn’t fair for me to judge Mendoza.
I was being an reactionary fan…who ended up being very wrong.
I’m just really down on this team.
I hate Woody Johnson.
I hate that they signed a head coach before getting a GM.
I hate that it feels like the same mistake being made over and over.
I hate that it sounds like Glenn wants Aaron Rodgers back.
I hate that an 9-8 record feels so far away.
So yeah, I am pissed off and think Aaron Glenn isn’t going to work out.
That’s totally acceptable.
I hope I get that chance.
