That was a year ago.
No one gave a shit in the All-Star Game and yet again here we are.
There was a time the All-Star Game was awesome.
We weren’t sitting there watching lock down defense for 48 minutes.
But we saw guys caring, especially in the second half.
You have your fun early and then we see the best players on the planet actually play basketball.
Cool, basically everyone agreed that worked.
Then at some point, players stopped giving a shit.
No competition, just get some cardio in and a shootaround then get out of there.
Here’s how you get these guys to care.
Players have to put up their own money.
Winning team gets the pot.
That’s the only way I can see players actually caring about this game.
That or just do what the NHL is doing.
Everything we’ve known about All-Star weekend is dead.
The dunk contest isn’t fun anymore and big names aren’t playing in it.
The 3-point contest, while it gets the big names, isn’t drawing people in.
The game itself sucks.
I’d love to see this meeting.
They apparently do something like this every year and we’re talking about the death of All-Star weekend.
How bad can the speech be?
How little do people care?
I miss caring about the All-Star Game.
That’s ultimately what it comes down to for me.
It was perfect on a Sunday night with nothing else on.
You got the cool plays early and then actual basketball.
For those few minutes we got to see the best players actually playing basketball.
