I hadn’t talked to Dave about merch in years.
Some shirts are duds, and others take off.
My biggest shirt is pretty obvious- it’s the Capitals “Our Year” shirt.
During the 2018 Stanley Cup run we sold thousands upon thousands.
Which brings us to a week and a half ago, March 30th to be exact.
Every Sunday I text Dave and ask if he wants to do the Monday Rundown.
Usually it’s a “yes” or a “no”.
But this one…well it was different….
I was SO CONFUSED.
How did Dave know about that?
I thought only Caps Twitter knew about it.
So I told him I thought it was sorta just too niche for a tshirt.
I told Pilar the story and she laughed at me and got the shirt in motion with our designers.
Good thing the shirt was made and ready for launch, and it’s pretty sweet too.
That niche little shirt sold a zillion immediately.
And the legend of it keeps growing bigger and bigger.
Are we going to see a live performance at the game tonight?????
Vibes could not possibly be higher.
I guess we’ll see.
I’m not even remotely ready for it to end.
And shout out Dave- when you’re right you’re right, and boy howdy he was right.
