But the NHL is getting softer these days. Even the most innocent and mundane form of shenanigans like firing a couple pucks at the opposing goalie. To set the scene for the Chargers here,it is very clear what went wrong last year. The had an overinflated regular season record thanks to an easy schedule of BAD/Rookie qbs. Once they played actually good team, every weakness they had was exposed. They went into the offseason needing a few changes. They addressed some of this during free agency, specifically getting Mekhi Becton to fill in at RG. That turned out to be prophetic as the Chargers took Omarion Hampton with the 22nd pick....
This was their first chance to truly create a playoff homecourt advantage in a home that was actually theirs. So what was their plan with the Nuggets and Nikola Jokic in town? This is a steal as far as I’m concerned. They could have given up their next five first round picks. In all seriousness, though, Pearce is a monster. 26 if he’s there. If that’s the case, the price doesn’t matter. This time last year, Pearce was a popular pick to be the No. 1 overall pick in way-too-early mock drafts and now he’s an Atlanta Falcon. This is why we do it, folks....
The only problem with that is those guys usually suck at football. Why not embrace guys that think the Jedi are a bunch of whiny rule following bitches?
